As a tech-forward hospital, we embrace technology that helps us both advance the level of care we provide and deliver a superior veterinary experience. We look to new technologies for a variety of reasons: Does it help us treat our patients more effectively? Is it safer? Easier? Faster? Does it help us better coordinate care and communicate with our clients? Ultimately, our goal is to make the best use of the best technology available to us so that we can provide better health care while spending less time on administrative tasks and more time on you and your pet.

Integrated Technology

We use diagnostic and software products and services developed by a global leader in veterinary health care products. This keeps us at the forefront of the latest technological advances and allows us to offer a wide range of diagnostics. It also ensures that we can quickly and seamlessly communicate with clients and consultants.

Our practice management software is fully integrated with our internal and external laboratory, as well as our diagnostic imaging equipment, to streamline record keeping and allow us to store lab results and images directly in your pet’s medical record.

Practice Management Software

We use practice management software designed to make it easier for us to do what we need to do and to keep you in the loop. Diagnostic results, whether from our external lab or in-house analyzers, are seamlessly integrated into your pet’s medical record. The program will send you reminders of upcoming appointments and procedures that are due as well as discharge summaries and instructions for a pet that’s been hospitalized.

You’ll also have a personal portal that will allow you to access:

    • our appointment schedule so you can book your own appointment
    • your pet’s medical information
    • your financial history with us

External Reference Laboratory

Our external lab offers comprehensive and advanced diagnostic tests with a quick turnaround.

In-house Analyzers

Our in-house laboratory is equipped with analyzers that allow us to analyze blood and urine samples and get quicker answers to urgent or time-sensitive issues, sometimes within the hour.

Medical Consults

Our veterinarians have direct, live access to board-certified specialists (Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Oncology, and so on) when they need guidance on a medical case. This means that if we’ve run diagnostics for your pet, we can obtain an expert second opinion quickly and at no additional cost.

Laparoscopic Surgery

For dog spays and other surgical procedures, we perform minimally invasive surgery using a single-port endoscope, a thin tube equipped with a video camera, lighting, cutting, and cauterizing capability.

We’re also one of the first general veterinary practices in Canada to adopt a Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma sterilizer to sterilize our endoscopes. It’s significantly safer and more environmentally friendly than the traditional alternatives that use ethylene oxide gas, a greenhouse gas that’s highly flammable and carcinogenic.

Imaging

X-rays (radiographs) and ultrasonography (ultrasound) provide unique and complementary non-invasive and safe methods of getting a look inside your pet. While X-rays are a standard requirement of all veterinary hospitals in Ontario, ultrasonography is optional due to the cost of equipment and training involved. We’ve made the investment in both.

For dentistry, we evaluate oral health below the gumline using dental x-rays. To that end, we have two types of dental imaging systems – Digital radiography (DR) and Computer radiography (CR) – to give us the flexibility to choose the one most suited to your pet. Both require significantly less radiation and produce a higher quality image than traditional film x-rays.

Therapeutic Laser

Laser therapy provides a non-invasive and drug-free option for treating a variety of painful and inflammatory conditions including arthritis, sprains, fractures, and wounds. It can be used on its own or as an addition to other treatments. We use a leading-edge Summus laser – a class IV (deep penetrating) laser designed for veterinary use.

Patient Enclosures

We have the most advanced enclosures available for our hospitalized patients. No cold, noisy, stainless-steel cages with hard-to-clean bars that you’ll find in most hospital settings. We’ve chosen CASCO Pet units designed to reduce stress, optimize comfort and well-being, and to speed recovery. They’re Fear Free® approved and meet International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) standards. They’re also designed to help us manage and monitor patients in our nursing ward more efficiently and effectively.

Features include:

  • tempered glass panels that are ventilated, improve visibility and are easy to clean
  • twist-lock handles that open and close doors quietly and keep your pet safe and secure
  • a thermostat that adjusts the temperature (warming up or cooling down an enclosure as needed)
  • privacy lighting to eliminate distractions so your pet can relax and rest through recovery
  • a ventilation system to reduce odors from neighboring enclosures
  • a UVA lighting system that highlights dirty areas to facilitate proper cleaning

Air Filtration

We have a sophisticated air exchange system to help keep people and pets in our facility healthy.

Our online webstore allows you to order veterinary-approved prescriptions and diets as well as a wide range of non-prescription items at your convenience and have them delivered right to your home. No need to make a special trip to the hospital to pick up what you need.
