Pets hold a cherished place as members of their human families, and their families accept the responsibility of acting on their behalf to ensure their health and wellbeing. With that responsibility can come difficult decisions about whether or not to pursue a surgery or treatment of a disease and deciding if or when it’s time to bring a pet’s life to a gentle, loving, peaceful, and dignified end to alleviate undue pain and suffering – a process referred to as euthanasia, the Greek term for a “good death.”

Our veterinary team is committed to helping you navigate those difficult times, recognizing that each person’s needs, beliefs, and circumstances are unique. The process begins with an evaluation of your pet’s condition and quality of life. When the time comes for euthanasia, we’ll explain the procedure and options for aftercare in advance. You can have your pet’s ashes returned to you along with a pawprint keepsake and a lock of your pet’s fur. We can also provide support guides with helpful information about all aspects of the euthanasia process including coping with the loss of a pet.

Euthanasia is performed in our Comfort Room – a quiet, cozy room with a private entrance away from the activity of hospital life.
