Dr. Iz Jakubowski

Iz would be the first to say you’re never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream, having set her sights on a career in veterinary medicine after a successful stint as a writer and editor in the software industry. Best. Decision. Ever.

Long-fascinated by science and medicine and drawn to animals of all descriptions, vet med would prove the life-affirming and intellectually rewarding next act Iz was looking for. Iz (and her patients!) have thrived in general veterinary practice in the GTA, Kingston, and the Blue Mountains. And now, a new goal and a new dream: Taking patient care to the next level with a team that knows just how to do it.

Advancing her knowledge and expertise and fostering collaboration and communication to bring our best selves to the people and pets in our care; equal parts explorer and adventurer, Iz’s happy place outside of work is out enjoying nature and wildlife as well as customs and cultures both close to home and around the world.

WHAT MAKES HER TICK?
Iz cherishes her role in advocating for the health and well–being of her patients and partnering with clients to understand the issues at hand and determine the best course of action for a positive outcome.

CAT PERSON OR DOG PERSON?
Iz secretly wishes she could have renowned naturalist David Attenborough’s job with a side of vet medicine. Animals are awesome. Everything about them. Wild, domestic, big, or small. While Iz shared her world with a beautiful Shepherd, Lab, and Border Collie cross named Boz, she’s equally fond of and fascinated by felines. Currently between pets, Iz enjoys her role as an occasional cat sitter (or is that servant?) and favorite “aunt” to a number of canine companions. Has the best treats. Knows the best trails. Has a great throwing arm.
