Erika Rasteiro, RVT

Erika has loved animals for as long as she can remember. Growing up, her grandpa’s home was always filled with birds, ferrets, dogs, and the occasional rabbit, and those cherished early experiences set her on a path she has never wavered from. She originally dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, but once she discovered the incredibly important role veterinary technicians play, she knew that was exactly where she belonged.

Erika is no stranger to SOVH. She spent a year here as a veterinary assistant and completed several of her tech school placements with the team before returning as a newly credentialed RVT. After completing her Animal Care Program in 2024 and her Veterinary Technician Program in 2026, Erika joined the SOVH team with a particular interest in dentistry and patient care. She is passionate about being a voice for pets when they cannot speak for themselves, and takes great care to ensure every patient and their owner feels comfortable, supported, and well looked after.

She chose SOVH because she believes every pet deserves to be treated with the same love and compassion as if they were your own, and knew from the moment she encountered the SOVH team that this was exactly the right place for her.

Outside of work, Erika loves spending time with friends and family, travelling, and picking up new hobbies. She always considered herself a dog person, but her time in the veterinary field has given her a whole new appreciation for cats and she hopes to have one of her own someday!
